Verne's planet fiction Off on a Comet! a Journey through Planetary Space is a wonderful read for space opera lovers. A size-able part of earth along with people are dismantled from earth after a comet crashes on the earth. People on the area could not realize what happened, but slowly started realizing strange changes in atmosphere like their body weights less, weather become more cold. The lives of the people (on-board?) is narrated with fantasy and the novel ends up with another crash of the comet, thus reverting to the original position of the territory.
